Kinderville | London, Ontario | 2009

Kinderville is a modern daycare centre incorporating classrooms on two stories. All aspects of the building were designed for the use of very young children, over three years old. This includes child size scaled down toilets, hand sinks, and handrails and cubbies mounted at lower heights. The building exterior features stone on the lower level and stucco on the upper level, with the junction between materials varying height in segments rather than in a straight line. This casual yet modern appearance suites the building purpose. The exterior play area is located at the back of the site to shield it from street view and features undulating terrain, varying surface textures and structures creating playful shading patterns.
